Mit ihrem neuen Album beweisen Benediction, warum Old School Death Metal auch heute noch Maßstäbe setzt – ein brachiales Brett, das sich gleich den ersten Platz im Soundcheck sichert. Doch sie sind nicht die Einzigen, die den Spirit der Neunziger weitertragen: In The Woods… und Cancer liefern mit ihren aktuellen Werken eindrucksvolle Beweise, dass auch Black Avantgarde und Death Thrash nichts von ihrer Kraft verloren haben. Nostalgie? Vielleicht. Aber eine, die auch in der Gegenwart verdammt gut funktioniert. Das gilt auch für die ins Kino kommende Destruction-Dokumentation, über die Schmier einiges zu erzählen hat.

Auch Dimmu Borgir haben große Pläne. Zwar bleibt ein neues Album noch aus, aber in einem ausführlichen Gespräch verspricht die Band Besserung – und versüßt die Wartezeit mit weiteren Live-Aktivitäten. Und während einige sich auf ihre Bühnenrückkehr vorbereiten, erzählen die Modern-Metaller Pop Evil von der weniger glanzvollen, aber essenziellen Seite des Tourens: Planung, Finanzierung und das Überleben auf der Straße – fast schon ein Business-Seminar für Musiker.
